Day 5

Sunday – 3/25 – Mile 41 to 52.6 (11.6 total)

It was deliciously cold last night.

Looking up and ahead. Also, beard growth.

Lots of processed food. Sorry, body.

Who knew?

Julian area mountain views.

This was the day we were repeatedly bitch-slapped by the wind. The wind was blowing so hard the brim of our hats would slap us if they were covering our face, or flip up exposing our faces to the sun.

We had a real trail runner pass us. We both wear trail-running shoes, but to actually run on these rocky, sometimes slippery trails looks insane.

Although we weren’t supposed to overnight camp there, we ended our day at Pioneer Mail Picnic Area. Two guys were already there and had the same idea as us. If a ranger tells us to move, we’ll move, but we were dead tired and there wasn’t another option close according to our map.
